Synthesis and characterization of transition metal complexes with benzimidazolyl-2- hydrazones of salicylidene acetone and salicylidene acetophenone
Abstract
A series of complexes of the type [M2L2Cl2], where L= 2-(salicylidene acetone- 2’-imino) amino benzoimidazole (HSAIAB) and 2-(salicylidene acetophenone- 2’- imino) amino benzimidazole (HSAPIAB), M= Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II), have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, thermal analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moment, electronic, infrared spectral studies. The results are in consistent with tridentate chelation of ligand with azomethine nitrogen, ring nitrogen and oxygen atom. The fungi toxicity of the ligands & their complexes against some fungal pathogen has been studied.
