Removal of malachite green from aqueous solution by adsorption studies using mosambi peal as an adsorbent
Abstract
Mosambi peal dust has been used as a bio- sorbent f or the removal of a cationic dye malachite green fr om aqueous solution. The process of removal has been optimize d for different parameters like initial concentrati on of dye solution , contact time, pH, adsorbent dose. FTIR w as performed to determine various functional groups attached to the adsorbent surface. The experimental result indi cate that 0.6g/l of mosambi peal dust was able to r emove 94% of dye. The sorption capacity for mosambi peal at that effective contact time was 2600 mg/kg respectively . The effective pH for orange peal was 11 for the removal of Malach ite green dye. The results shows that mosambi peal dust can be a better alternate for the removal of Malachite gre en from aqueous solution and effluents.
