Antibiotics are the subgroup of organic anti-infect ive agents that are derived from bacteria or that are toxic to other bacteria. The molecular pol arizabilities of a few penicillin group of compounds are estimated by semi-empirical δ -function model and molecular vibration methods. Diamagnetic susceptibilities and Electron ionizatio n cross-sections of these molecules are also evaluated. The results are discussed in relation to bond properties.
