Green synthesis of stable ZnO and CdS nanoparticles using room temperature ionic liquids and their characterization
Abstract
The green synthesis of nanoparticles has paved for better methodologies and approaches in the medicinal field. The present paper explores the synthesis of stable ZnO and CdS nanoparticles using imidazolium based ionic liquids ([HMIM] BF4 and [HMIM] PF6) as green catalysts. Size controlled ZnO and CdS nanostructures with distinct morphologies have been successfully synthesized and this process was found to be simple, fast and feasible. The characterization of the silver nanoparticles such as their size and shape was performed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) techniques.
