The Siddha drug Vedi Annabedhi Chendhooram (VABC) , basically a proprietary Medicine mentioned in Siddh a Literature, is evaluated for Hepatoprotective activ ity in animal model. To evaluate the efficacy of Ve diAnnabedhi Chendhooram (VABC) in the management of Hepatocellu lar damages. The Hepatoprotective activity of the d rug was studied in CCl 4 induced hepatic damage in Wistar albino rats of ei ther sex. The rats in prophylactic groups were treated with Vedi Annabedhi Chendhooram with h oney at the dose of 23.4 mg and 50 mg / kg for 14 d ays and standard drug Silymarin at the dose of 100 mg / kg. The results showed that CCl 4 administration significantly damaged the liver and the drug administration signi ficantly reduced the level of liver marker enzymes, increase the total protein content and minimize the Histopatholo gical changes. The observations clearly indicate th at the drug Vedi Annabedhi Chendhooram with honey possess Hepat oprotective activity with minimal toxicity and coul d offer promising role in the management of liver damage ca used by CCl 4 .
