Ethnomedicinal Plants for Indigestion in Uthiramerur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, Tamilnadu, India
Abstract
Uthiramerur taluk is a panchayat town in Kancheepur am district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . Ethanomedicinal field study reveals that th e local caste and communities in Uthiramerur Taluk such as, irulan, narikuraver, vathiyas, mudha lyar and vaniyars practice the herbal medicine, extensively. A total of 8 plant species belonging to 8genera and 8 families were used to treat indigestion problems. are used by rural p eople in the treatment of indigestion specifically. The medicinal plants are listed alph abetically by the botanical name of plant species, family, followed by local name( in Tamil) , plant part used, mode of utilization chemical constituents isolated and biological activities rep orted.
